Welcome to the new Web Designers Talk

News & announcements regarding Web Designers Talk.

Postby Scott » Fri Feb 09, 2007 11:27 pm

Dear All,

Web Designers Talk (WDT) has been rapidly going down hill over the last few months as can be seen from the level of activity. Jason and I have spent a great deal of time trying to solve the various problems which we had with the existing site, but none of them have worked.

We made a decision a short time ago to start fresh. The blog has gone - as there wasn't enough content to sustain it. The forums have been moved to PunBB from vBulletin which was far too heavy and powerful for our needs. Some forums have been merged and reorganised as well, to hopefully inject some life back into the site.

So this evening we have launched Web Designers Talk version five. We hope this will restore WDT's core values of a good community and informative, focused discussion.

All Passwords have been lost during the move because they were in a format incompatible with PunBB. Please use the Forgotten your Password? feature to reset your password to change your password before attempting to log into the site.

Any feedback would be most appreciated whilst we continue to develop the new site over the coming weeks and months.

Thank you for your continued support,

Scott Stevinson and Jason Gillyon

Thanks for the announcement Scott. Hopefully we can get this site going again. :)

We have also had a clean up of old users. Those who have not logged in in over a year and haven't made any posts since they registered have been deleted.

Also noticed that a few posts just contain numbers for some odd reason. If you see a post which just has numbers in it, click the report button at the bottom right of the post and it will then be removed by an administrator.

Not sure. Would be great to start it up again, but I don't really know where to start. Not really discussed it with the others yet either.

I converted the board to phpBB3 as we we're getting a lot of spam when we were using punBB before, It seems to have worked as we haven't had any since the conversion.

Ideas are always welcome! :)
